Intergranular Corrosion Test

Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) also commonly known as Intergranular Attack (IGA) is a phenomenon of corrosion where the grain boundaries of material (Stainless Steel) becomes prone to deposit of carbides of the inherent Chromium or Niobium.

Due to prolonged exposure to heat, sensitization in the material causes the precipitation of carbides along grain boundaries. For castings that are heat treated, IGC test ensures the correctness of the process so that the metal is not susceptible to Intergranular Corrosion.

UNI Abex has a state of the art, in-house facility for intergranular corrosion testing as per ASTM A262 to ensure complete peace of mind for the valued customers.
